Reasons Why You Should Be Making Granola Smoothies
A simple granola smoothie is the perfect way to turn a good breakfast into a gr8 one. Not only is granola an excellent source of sustained energy, it is also packed with nutrients from its main ingredient: oats. Oats are an excellent source of protein, help balance hormones and metabolism, lowers cholesterol and promotes digestion, among other health benefits. If you ask us, it’s time to start tossing a handful of crunchy granola goodness to your smoothies. You might’ve tried granola as a smoothie bowl topping, but we’re here to let you in on a little secret: blending granola into our smoothies is one of our fave foodie hacks.
Can You Add Granola To A Smoothie?
If you ask us, the answer is a no-brainer! When the question involves granola, our answer is pretty much always yes. The benefits of adding granola to smoothies include:
- Added flavor (especially if you use a flavor like our Peanut Butter or Cinnamon Chai gr8nola).
- Thicker smoothie texture (say goodbye to watery smoothies)!
- Granola is high in fiber to keep you satiated longer.
- Lower sugar (if you choose a clean ingredient granola, you won’t even need to add any sweeteners to your smoothie).
- Depending on the flavor and brand, granola can be packed with micronutrients such as magnesium, zinc, vitamin E and B vitamins.
Looking for something more filling than a smoothie? Granola smoothie bowls are a gr8 way to scoop up larger portions while still reaping the same health benefits of a smoothie (and more).
The Best Granola For Smoothie Bowls
Are you #teamsmoothie or #teamsmoothiebowl?
Smoothies are a great way to throw together a delicious snack with minimal mess. The ability to toss all ingredients in one blender and pour up a tall glass makes it a gr8 on-the-go snack for a busy lifestyle. You can also prepare smoothies in advance, and store them in the fridge for easy access, which adds to their practicality for a busy lifestyle.
Smoothie bowls, on the other hand, typically involve a few extra steps. Once you prepare your smoothie, you pour it into a bowl and top it with various toppings. We love this part because it allows us to get creative, despite the fact that this means added prep time and extra cleanup! Smoothie bowls are generally much larger portions than smoothies, and can act more as a “meal” than a typical smoothie would. Smoothie bowls are also an exciting way to jazz up your inner foodie, and to turn a simple meal into a masterpiece.
We just can’t decide whether we prefer smoothies or smoothie bowls, but one thing’s for certain: we do believe that gr8nola is the best granola for smoothie bowls! Gr8nola is totally clean and made with simple ingredients that pack a powerful superfood punch.
