Still on the Fence about #TheGr8Cleanse?

Week one of #TheGr8Cleanse is almost done, and Tank and I are feeling gr8. We had our inaugural offsite yesterday, which was highly productive :). If you're still on the fence about doing the cleanse, there's never a bad time to start. Want to reset your healthy habits, find more motivation and detox all the crap and bad juju from 2016? Brandi (our cleanse guru) sheds more light on the "why" behind the cleanse in the guest blog post below!

The early year is a popular time to do a cleanse, but I actually do a cleanse a few times a year just to reboot my body and eating habits. Our bodies detox continuously as a natural function throughout the year. It's only when our detox mechanisms become overloaded that the process becomes less efficient and symptoms may occur. Toxins may be internal or external in origin. Pollution or pesticides in our food and water sources, as well as the air we breath, puts undue stress on our detox organs, the kidneys and liver. Improper digestion and imbalanced gut ecology provide internal forms of toxins in the way of metabolic by-products stemming from certain bacteria which have toxic side effects and therefore impact negatively on overall health by compromising detox pathways.

It has been suggested that toxic overload contributes to oxidative stress, which leads to inflammation, which then contributes to more serious conditions such as auto-immune diseases, inflammatory/rheumatoid arthritis and neurological disorders such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. The goal of the cleanse is to gently and slowly cleanse your body of toxins so serious diseases like these can be avoided. This program should turn your liver into a healthy, cleansing machine.

Symptoms which may be relieved by following a detox program include:

  • Digestive problems
  • Fatigue
  • General malaise
  • Headaches
  • Skin rashes
  • Weight loss resistance
  • Mental Detoxification:
  • Bad breath
  • Irritability
  • Constipation
  • Itchy skin
  • Joint pain
  • Poor concentration

What a carefully planned detoxification program can offer you:

  • Anti-aging effects
  • Increased productivity
  • Weight Loss
  • Reduction of allergic symptoms
  • Clearer skin and eyes
  • Greater motivation and creativity

Mental Detoxification

Cleansing is not just about the body; we also have to cleanse our minds. The cleansing of our mind of negative thought patterns is essential to health, and physical detoxification and can aid in this process. Emotionally, detoxification helps us uncover and express hidden frustrations, anger, resentments and fear and replace them with forgiveness, love, joy and hope. What we put out into the universe is what we get back, so positive thoughts and actions are of the utmost importance for a positive and happy life. The cleanse is a journey of self discovery, and you will learn a lot about yourself and your habits.

Enjoy the change of season...this is a time for your to care for your unique self. You are a priority, if only for these 28 days!
